Established as one of the pioneering organizations in aesthetic and plastic surgery in China, our department is instrumental in driving advancements within this field across central and southern China. The head of the department, Professor SUN Jiaming, serves as a distinguished academic leader with expertise in stem cells and tissue engineering, holding the title of chief physician and national second-level professor while also overseeing doctoral programs.

Furthermore, our department holds various prestigious positions including deputy-chr units in societies such as Plastic Surgery under Chinese Medical Association and Chinese Research Hospital Association, along with numerous chr units at provincial-level societies.

In 2019, Union Hospital's Department of Plastic Surgery was ranked fifth among the country's best hospitals. Scientific research achievements were notably high, ranking third nationally in terms of standard values in medical science research.

We are a cornerstone for clinical drug trial bases in plastic surgery and have successfully completed or initiated over 23 projects since our inception. We have contributed to groundbreaking advancements through numerous national-level scientific research initiatives, such as National Natural Foundation Grants, Transversal Projects, Provincial Projects, and College Research Initiatives.

Our department has authored more than twenty authoritative books on plastic surgery topics like Breast Plastic Surgery, Flap Reconstructive Surgery, Autologous Fat Transplantation, Facial Beauty Technology among others. Moreover, our team boasts a significant publication record in SCI journals with an impact factor surpassing 200 since the department's establishment.

To date, we have educated and trned nearly one hundred residents, MD candidates, along with over five hundred clinical fellows, contributing to the growth and expertise in the field of plastic surgery.
